What will happen to Android?

Welp as the banner above you says Android will stop being open. Yes, it will stop being open aka you will not be able to install any APKs. Starting in september 2026 Google will push a update that will prevent you from installing APKs that are not from the Play Store. Yeah you read that right NO APKs that are not from the Play Store. As a developer that will mean without

  • Paying a fee to Google
  • Agreeing to Google’s Terms and Conditions
  • Surrendering your government-issued identification
  • Providing evidence of your private signing key
  • Listing all current and all future application identifiers

I can’t test or use my app. In my opinion I do not like this change. It removes the opportunities for things like a first app somebody made, a community app etc. I think Android is open-source and should let you do whatever you want without you needing the Play Store. You should
